Each year, the City of Elgin Human Relations Commission takes great pride in presenting a weekend of activities celebrating the life of one of our country’s greatest civil rights leaders, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

2021 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship is awarded annually to students who have demonstrated an active interest and meaningful involvement in the areas of human rights, civil rights, social justice and/or world peace. Scholarships may also be awarded to students whose activities are exemplary and reflect the ideals and life of Dr. King. This past year, we were able to award 6 students a total of $6,000. Please join us in our efforts to increase the number of scholarship awards for 2021.
High School Seniors - if you are a senior living in Elgin with a GPA of 2.5 or above and a record of service to the community, you are encouraged to apply for a Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship. Applications are due November 27, 2020. Click here for the application.
