"The whirlwind of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Each year, the City of Elgin Human Relations Commission takes great pride in presenting a weekend of activities celebrating the life of one of our country’s greatest civil rights leaders, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
This year in lieu of the Prayer Breakfast, Dr. King's birthday was celebrated virtually, but lost none of its power. Please enjoy the 36th annual celebration below.
A special thanks to KCT Credit Union who generously provided the platform and technical assistance to make this event possible!

...to donate to the MLK Food Drive. With the community's generosity, we have raised the equivalent of 35 tons of food so far!
For the past 9 years, the Dr. King Food Drive has collected thousands of pounds of food for the less fortunate in our community. Our 2021 goal is to collect and distribute 80,000 pounds of food and household items for our local food pantries. Every $1.00 collected equals 8 pounds of food. With your generous donation, we can reach our goal.
