Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Prayer Breakfast
Saturday, January 18, 2020, 8:30 am - 10:30 am @ ECC.
This year's theme is GIVE US THE BALLOT. Dr. King said, "Voting is the foundation stone for political action."

Each year the MLK Celebration Committee recognizes individuals who are residents of Elgin, and organizations serving residents of Elgin, whose work reflects the teachings and life work of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther, Jr. Click here for the nomination form.
MLK Scholarship Application
The Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship is awarded annually to Elgin students who have demonstrated an active interest and meaningful involvement in the areas of human rights, civil rights, social justice and/or world peace. Scholarships may also be awarded to students whose activities are exemplary and reflect the ideals and life of Dr. King. Multiple scholarships are awarded based upon the number of applicants and the quality of the submissions.
Your support can come in the form of purchasing an ad for our 2020 calendar which will be distributed at the Annual Prayer Breakfast and sold at City Hall. Your ad and business card donations will be used to help off-set the general costs of all of our activities, including supporting the scholarships which will be presented to graduating high school students from Elgin. Your support will help us carry forward the dream of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. For information on purchasing anything from a business card size ad to an entire page, see the attached letter.
Martin Luther King Jr. Community Food Drive
In 2019 we collected and distributed 60,000 pounds of food and personal care items for Elgin's needy families. Stay tuned for 2020's goals and how you can help us meet them!
