There is no methodology to determine exactly when and where a disaster will strike in a given area, nor can we anticipate the nature of the disaster. Measures are in place to provide a warning or a suspicion; however, it is up to you to ensure your family is as prepared as possible to cope during the aftermath. Preparation is important to help ensure the safety of you and your family.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) has provided helpful ideas on suggested items to include in your family’s home disaster kit. The kit should be located in an accessible place, and designed for mobility as one may need to leave their home quickly. Ensure all family members know where the kit is kept.
