2013 Elgin Short Film Festival

Films from across the country were submitted to the festival. The 2013 festival drew a crowd of over 700 people in attendance. Event host, comedian Mike Toomey, received rave reviews. The winners are:

FIRST PLACE: Michael Saints
Director: Katharine Mahalic

Synopsis: A heartwarming story of the unbreakable bond of friendship. Mahalic's film also won the "People's Choice" award, based solely on audience votes.

SECOND PLACE: Make It A Great Day
Director: Joshua Jones

Synopsis: A film about a newborn chick's convoluted path of survival from laboratory incubator to trash can to chance at life.

THIRD PLACE: Drawing On A Dream
Director: David Rae Morris

Synopsis: A film about a tribute to Delta muscian and painter Jerry Lee "Duff" Dorrough.

FINALIST: An Imminent Love Story
Elgin Filmaker: Matthew Blair Jacobsen

Synopsis: A film about exploration of what it means to be in love and was shot entirely in Elgin.

Synopsis: A film about a young girl with Down Syndrome who expresses herself through
abstract art.
