Welcome Back, Elgin!

The City of Elgin, Elgin Cultural Arts Commission and Seigle Foundation welcome Elgin residents to the newly renovated Civic Center Plaza to celebrate the arts. “Welcome Back, Elgin!” a family-friendly celebration of the arts will take place on August 22 at 1:30 p.m., culminating in a free concert featuring internationally acclaimed violinist, Rachel Barton Pine, sponsored by Chamber Music on the Fox at 3:00 p.m.

Wander the plaza and enjoy the various arts offerings that Elgin has to showcase including balloon artists, dance, live theatre, and more. Kids will be able to enjoy a pop-up park, free arts kits sponsored by Side Street Studio Arts, and arts and craft stations. Specific artists and participation will be announced soon.

The event will conclude with a live concert, also streamed to the plaza, sponsored by Chamber Music on the Fox. Rachel will lead the ensemble in a performance of Mozart’s stunning C Major String Quintet as well as the masterful Souvenir de Florence by Tchaikovsky. Tickets to the concert are free, but reservations are required. Social distancing will be observed, and masks required. Non-ticketed attendees are invited to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy from the plaza. Following the concert, attendees are encouraged to visit our downtown restaurants and further enjoy what Elgin has to offer.
