Holiday Cheers

In 2021, The City of Elgin partnered with the Downtown Neighborhood Association to celebrate the Holly Days events. Citizens strolled downtown Elgin and enjoyed holiday themed drinks and viewed holiday themed window murals provided by participating businesses. Roaming performers such as the Caroling Connection and Santa Claus made appearances. The City of Elgin is excited to celebrate this event in 2022 - stay tuned for upcoming information.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

Residents and visitors gather at Festival Park (132 S. Grove Avenue) to view the annual tree lighting ceremony. Mayor Kaptain, members of City Council, and Santa turn on the holiday tree lights. In 2021, the event was accompanied by performers from the Ballet Folkorico Huehuecotyl and the Larkin High School Jazz Band. The 2022 Tree Lighting Ceremony is set to occur on November 26th at 5:00p.m..

Letters to Santa

Children who write a letter to Santa and drop it off in the mailbox located in front of the Edward Schock Centre of Elgin (100 Symphony Way, Elgin IL 60120) will receive a letter back from Santa himself! No postage (stamps) required, sealed envelope with return address needed to receive a response. For 2022, Santa's mailbox will appear on November 11th and be removed on December 16th. All letters will be mailed by December 20th.
