The School Resource Officer program was developed to establish a positive working relationship between the police department and school staff, including administrators, teachers, students, and parents.
In pursuing this initiative, detectives are devoted to fostering a relationship based on mutual respect and trust. School staff, students, and parents are encouraged to seek the counseling of their school’s detective when they have legal questions or need referral information to area social service agencies. Services are also available should a student require individual counseling or are in need of crisis intervention, legal advice or the confidential reporting of crimes.
Detectives also strive to reduce occurrences of theft, vandalism, gang activity, drugs and any other incident that may require police intervention.
